Payment Methods

The method of payment to the Expert will depend on the Expert’s employment status, as detailed below.

Clients, who are investment managers, will be able to make payments for research services via Commission Sharing Agreements (CSA's) with the major brokers.

Self-employedor
If a contract is with an Expert who operates either as a sole-trader, or is established as a Company, then the Expert Analysis Group will invoice the Client on behalf of the Expert, according to the payment terms agreed in the contract. This will normally be either monthly, or on project completion, if sooner. VAT will be charged if the Expert is VAT registered.

The funds will be paid by the Client direct to the Expert's account. The Expert will be responsible for the payment of any taxes due.

Expert Analysis Group will also invoice the Client for their Agency Fee, on a monthly, or project completion basis, if sooner.

The decision on whether the work may be carried out on a self-employed basis, under HMRC tax guidelines, will depend on the nature of the work, and is one that is made between the Client and the Expert prior to commencement of the engagement.

Direct Employee
If an Expert is engaged as a direct employee of the Client, then they will need to be paid via the company payroll with deductions made for PAYE and NIC in the usual way.

Expert Analysis Group will invoice the Client for their Agency Fee monthly, or on completion of the contract, whichever is sooner.

Commission Sharing Agreement
CSA contracts are agreed between investment managers and their usual brokers, and their usage is widespread. The commission pool generated from trading under these agreements is shared between broker and the investment manager's designated research service providers.

Recognising that many investment management clients will wish to pay for research services via CSA's, and to reduce the administrative burden on all parties, Expert Analysis Group can facilitate payments to Experts via this mechanism.
